Year In Review

the 2020-2021 school year has been an absolute roller coaster of a year, from a state championship team to a week long freeze. We have basically seen it all this year. When the year started off none of us were sure what was going to happen. Athletes had no Idea if they were going to have a season, students weren’t sure what the school year would look like, and teachers had to start adjusting for in person and online students. Nobody knew what to expect. That wasn’t the only weird thing to happen in the first half of the year either. After a hot start the “promising” football team went on and did not win a single game after. and the volleyball team, which at one point was close to not even being a team, went on and won the district, won an amazing and intense semifinal game, and eventually won the state championship, the volleyball team was the only Northland 2020-2021 sports team to make it past the 2nd round. But the crazy was just getting started. With all the Covid craze and the recent freeze its easy to forget that we had nearly a week off of school in the first semester because of hurricane Laura and Marco, which never actually hit Texas. on top of that  2020 was an election year, so you add al the problems and tension that come with that. All this alone is enough for one person to say that this school year was a crazy one, however all of that was just in the first semester. The second semester started out normally, somewhat. other than a few Covid cases breaking out there was not much of a problem for the first few weeks. That was until in the middle of February a winter storm hit Texas. yes Texas was literally covered in snow for a week, it didn’t just snow and melt as soon as it hit the ground, the snow didn’t go away after a day. for a week, a whole week Texas was frozen over. unfortunately for many people this costs lots of damages from busted pipes and people went weeks without power. Thankfully this is the last major crazy thing to happen, so far, and with the year ending in a few weeks it means that all this craziness is over and behind us. This year is easily one of the most unusual years we have had, however that makes it all the more fun.
