Last weekend, the Northland Christian Debate team travelled to two different national circuit tournaments. The Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum debaters went to the Alta Silver and Black Invitational in Salt Lake City, Utah. The team took four of their juniors and spent four long and chilly days in Utah. When asked what they were most excited about, the juniors said they loved seeing all of the snow and getting to hold a puppy named Kimmy! But these four girls dominated!

The results are as follows:

Lincoln Douglas Debate
Double-Octofinalist (Top 32): Madison Lewis and Margaret Purcell

Public Forum Debate
Double-Octofinalist (Top 32): Lauren Lamar and Sarah Navid

Public Forum Debate Speaker Awards
3rd Place: Sarah Navid
10th Place: Lauren Lamar

And while all of that was going on, two interpers and three of their extempers travelled to the University of Texas Longhorn Classic in Austin, Texas. After a two-hour car ride, they competed for two long days and came home with some hardware! They, sadly, did not get to see any snow.

Harper Reaves, a senior, also earned one more state point to add to her points as she continues to fight for a spot at the Texas Forensics Association State tournament!

After all of this competing, the debate team is finally ready to settle down and have a nice, long Christmas break! Stay safe over the holidays, Cougars!
