This weekend, Northland is hosting a debate tournament that is a very prestigious round robin. Team Sarah Navid and Lauren Lamar will be competing to take home the gold. Teams from all over the United States will be coming in to debate. “The  competition is tough this year”, says Lamar. “We’re having to compete with people who have qualified to the Tournament of Champions several times and who have won other important  tournaments”.

The way this weekend will work is that teams will be place in two different “pods” of competitors and will then have to debate everyone in their given pod. Once they’ve finished debating, the top teams will then go on to eliminatory rounds until they finally have a winner for the entire tournament. The round robin will be spread out over Friday and Saturday in the afternoon. We asked Lamar about how she feels about this weekend. She said “We’re very eager to compete and hopefully it’ll result in a good win for our school.”
