Astros off to a Hot Start

After a couple of weeks of playing games, the Astros have shown the promise they have so much longed for. As of right now, they sit at a 9-6 (W/L) record. It might not seem like a lot but it is enough to begin and enjoy the progress this young team has made in such little time. Some years ago, the Astros were the forgotten team by many experts. Now, they are among the favorites to win-it-all along with the Cubs (repeating champions) and the Indians.

The Astros hold the first place in the AL West and the second on the division are the Angels being 2.5 games behind. That is a very comfortable lead in what is just the beginning of the season. This lead has its pro’s and con’s. The main pro is that you have a comfortable lead to start off the season. The main con is that now the team cannot relax. They cannot let their guards down because that is how teams lose their first place spots.

If the Astros maintain their pace, they will finish the season third in batting percentage and hits, and fifth in pitching ERA. Those are what many consider to be the main stats of the game and the Astros are among the top five in each. That is some great ground to be in.

Hopefully the ‘Stros keep their run so they can bring the World Series Trophy home here in Houston.
