Its that time of year again… Apple has just unveiled their newest phones, accessories, and new products for the year. From what we saw, there is a lot to look forward to, he is what we know…

First up, the long awaited iPhone X. The iPhone X brings much wanted features such as wireless charging, and OLED screen and the ability to use facial recognition as a password. That’s right you no longer need to press your finger on the home button, in fact, there isn’t even a home button anymore. Almost everything can be controlled using the 5.8 inch screen. The iPhone X comes in two colors; gray and silver. This new top of the line iPhone starts goes for 999$ and pre-orders start October 27 and will be available to buy November 3rd.

Brett Vazquez, a Northland senior, when asked about the iPhone X says that although the FaceID feature is interesting, most of the other features of the iPhone X seem rehashed from previous versions. Then he added that the new features of the phone had already been in phones before and that Apple was advertising them ad nauseam. He does not believe that a phone should cost as much as the iPhone X does and it is not worth the money since you would replace it in 2 years, if it isn’t already broken. Brett says that maybe if the phone was sold for a lower price, he would consider purchasing it.

Another Northland senior, Matthew Mouton was asked about his opinions on the new iPhone. He says that the new features seem cool, but they do not seem like a necessity. He goes on to say that even with the new features, he still thinks that the phone is overpriced, which seems to be a common opinion. He states that he thinks Apple chose to wait before implementing technology that other companies already used as a way to see if people liked the tech and if there was a way to improve it and make it easier. Matthew would also consider getting the phone.

The iPhone X will undoubtedly change the phone game forever, with its new features and remarkably high price point, who knows what other companies like Samsung and LG will do to compete with it.
