Soccer is a sport played all around the world, it is by far the most popular sport… except in the U.S. This has been an issue in the United States soccer community for a while. The question “why isn’t soccer as popular here as in other countries” is repeated often. With all of the protests about race and violence in the NFL today, many people are choosing not to watch it and instead turn to other sports. Still however, soccer is not getting as much attention as I think it should.

One of the main reasons why I think soccer should get more attentions is the fact that is strongly against racism. Over recent years, FIFA has stepped up in the way it handles racism, and before many games acts of unity are performed. If soccer was to be more popular, more people would play which means we would have more talented players. It is very possible that if soccer became larger in the U.S. we could eventually have enough talent to win a world cup, which would bring many people to the sport and its strong anti-racism message.
