The Astros Amazing Run

The Houston Astros have had a record-breaking year year. It has brought the city of Houston alive. The Astros have won their division, the AL West, and have the third-best record in the entire MLB. The Astros have produced win after win this year, and have now finally come through clutch. They have made it to the World Series.

In 2013, Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow, had a plan. He made trades that some called questionable, and some just called stupid. But he had a plan. Working with a team that had the worst record in the entire league is not easy. When you come across that, you have to build for the future. Trade after trade the Astros made, and now, in 2017, it has all come through. This past year, the Astros traded for veteran, Carlos Beltran, Josh Reddick, Charlie Morton, Brian Mccann, Justin Verlander, and many others. It is almost a completely different roster than it was two years ago.  When the playoffs started, the Astros beat the Red Sox in a series that was dominated by the Astros. The Astros beat the Boston 3 games to 1. In the ALCS, the Astros started off strong; winning the first 2 games of the series. Then when it was time to go to New York. Houston dropped all three games in New Yor and was down for the first time in the playoffs. The Astros won Game 5 with a dominant performance by Justin Verlander. Then there was Game 7. Houston had Charlie Morton on the mound against CC Sabathia for the Yankees. Morton produced 5 innings of scoreless baseball, with incredible defensive plays by Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve. The Astros pulled out the win in Game 7 4-0. The Astros have now made it to the World Series, and are tied with the Dodgers 1-1. The first game in Houston is today, Friday, October 27, 2017.

This year has been amazing for the Houston. With the Astros winning almost all year long, it has brought the city of Houston together. After Hurricane Harvey had hit, Houston was looking for something to hold on to. The Astros provided just that. With them going all this way, they have helped unite the city of Houston.
