Life with Joanne

This Thanksgiving break was eventful to say the least. I enjoyed basketball practice, but I came home sick with step. The saddest part was that I couldn’t taste the food I was eating on Thanksgiving. However, it was a time to enjoy gathering with my family. My favorite part about it all was the food. My mom always makes brisket, which she smokes for a whole day straight. My favorite side were the sweet mashed potatoes with marshmallows. But most of all, the part I enjoy about Thanksgiving is taking time to think about what I’ve been blessed with in life.

Secondly, my family and I have a couple of traditions every Thanksgiving. Usually my sister, dad, and brother and I go hunting up at our ranch in Willis. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go this year due to being sick. Luckily, my brother got a doe. My family’s second tradition is buying pie. Each of my family members buy a pie, or a slice or we would have too much dessert. Also, we write three things down we are thankful for and say them while we eat.

This year’s Thanksgiving was a great time to spend with my family and think about the things we are grateful for.
