Northland Baseball

The Northland Baseball team has had a very good couple of years going to playoffs 6 times in 8 years. In 2017 the baseball team made it to the State Final Four and lost to Woodlands Christian in the semifinals in a close game which ended with the score being 4-3. The 2017 season was arguably the second best team that Northland Baseball has had since the 80’s and 90’s years of the school. The 1994 team won the state championship, and the 1987 and 1988 team went to state in back to back years but sadly lost both of them.

Last years team was non the less a surprise to everyone who knew about the team. At the beginning of the season we weren’t even sure if we would have a full varsity team, but it turns out that we had more than enough and we had enough heart to be able to tie for 2nd against Woodlands Christian. This year we have a young talented team in which there are only 3 seniors. One of them being Senior Pitcher, Landon Murray, who said “This year we expect nothing but a playoff run and hopefully a great season that will lead us up to a state championship.” A state championship would be able to raise hopes for everyone in wanting to play baseball for this organization that has had many successful seasons.

The last time that a team had made it to state, all of us at this school were not even born yet. It is crazy to think that this year could be the year that we go deep in the playoffs and bring home a title.
