Thanksgiving Traditions of the Northland Commuity

The Claw Staff

Coach D- “The first thing we do is wake up and cook breakfast together. My mother will prepare the food 2 nights before at night so no one else will get the recipe. We will start eating at about 3 o’ clock, and watch the football game.”

Mrs Macatheran- “My mom makes us write on a family pumpkin what we are thankful for, and we will eat between lunch and dinner at 3. Then we will watch the football game.”

Karahn Garfield– We make a big feast, and whatever is left over we will give to the homeless. During the day we will decide as a family what event we want to do together. Then we eat our meal at dinner.”

Bruce: In this holiday I will definitely relax, and I will play the LOL. play, and sleep. I will enjoy my 9 day holiday.

Hower: I want to study every day, because I love to study.

Sarah: In this holiday, I will go out with my family, cousins and friends to eat and movie. I will enjoy it and no homework or study will bother me.

Danielle – “I don’t really have a tradition, all we do is just eat.”

Angela: “No, we just go to my grandmas house. I see my cousin and we just eat a dry turkey.”

Mrs. Mouton: “All the kids would come home, Mathew comes home today, David comes home on Wednesday, so all the kids come over. Thanksgiving morning, we have sausage balls and biscuits for breakfast. Then we prepare all the sides: mashed potatoes, green beans, rice dressing, and then fry the turkey. They all like to watch fry the turkey and carving the turkey together. Then we all have pumpkin pie, pecan pie, apple pie and then when we go to the couch watching football all afternoon after that.”

Jackson Winder: “We mainly have two: we invite people who does not have any family to have food and we go serve meals on wheels before thanksgiving.”

Andy Huynh“We usually cook dinner and turn on a football game and all the parents are talking while kids are outside throwing a football.”

Riley Frank“We usually just have the family over or our uncles house to bake a turkey and buy ham. Nothing too special, it is very relaxed.”

Maddie Pallanez – “I like going to my grandma’s house.  Eating food and spending time with my family is always the best.”

Justin Gilliland – “Our cousins always come over from Tyler, Texas.  My mom always makes homemade chex mix and pecan pie.”

Mr. Kyle Roger – “Smoking the turkey and making pumpkin pie are my favorite traditions.  You have to eat the dark meat in the turkey. It’s so good. You gotta eat the dark meat!”
