This Saturday, November 7th the Northland Christian swim team is attending a meet at the City of Conroe Aquatic Center and starts at 2:00 PM. The other schools attending are Frassati Catholic, Legacy Prep, Providence Classical School, and Homeschool Christian Youth Association is hosting the meet.

The Northland students attending are Paul Canovas and Mackenzie Hoffman, Paul says he is “swimming the 50 and 100 freestyle” and he isn’t nervous, but “I am anxious to see how it will work due to COVID-19.”

Due to COVID-19, there are many changes to how the meet will be run. According to the meet invitation, teams will be assigned specific areas to set up, everyone has to wear masks until they’re swimming, locker rooms to change will be closed, and only one heat of swimmers behind the blocks at all times. Normally, swimmers would show up, go to the locker room to change into their suit, then all jump in the pool at once with 10 other swimmers in your lane to do warm-ups, but now because of social distancing rules, there is no way for that to happen.
