NCS Visits the Renaissance Festival

Corbin Fontana, Writer/ Editor

This last Tuesday, the NCS fine arts classes took the first field trip to the Renaissance festival, not only to learn about the culture surrounded by the medieval era, but to support the theatre class in their performance that unveiled that day. Many students looked forward to this trip with minds ready to be blown by the commitment put in play by those who worked at the renaissance festival.

Even though we came on a school day, and not when the park was open to the public, there were still some great costumes to be shown off by those who dedicate their time to role-play. The lords and ladies of the Renaissance Festival were excited to invite you in into their land of turkey legs and jousting, and quick to give out the notorious “kiss cards” that sadly, do not give you a kiss. With the real swords put behind the counters because of it being a school day, they brought out the foam ones and even offered free lessons, (where you would almost always lose).

As bellies were filled with the over sized turkey legs, and legs aching from the endless walking, the smiles of triumph on the students faces perfectly captured the true feelings behind the trip to the Renaissance Festival.
