This year Junior and Seniors were able to decorate there parking spots in August, and all of the proceeds went to the senior class!
School students were able to paint a 5 foot x 8 foot rectangle. Students were suppose to bring all their supplies such as Latex exterior paint. Although there are many different types of paint it must be latex “liquid” paint, no aerosol cans, no reflective paint, no glow in the dark paint, etc. Exterior latex paint is said to work the best. paint rollers with extension pole (extension pole for painting large surfaces), paint brushes, chalk to sketch design, newspapers/drop cloth to prevent dripping/spilling , painters tape, broom/blower to clean debris off parking space, paper towel and clean-up supplies. In order to paint your parking spot you needed you sketch out your design and sent it in an email to both Mrs. Downey and Mrs. McCathran. There were some restrictions about what to paint on your parking spot but students were said to think about it as a shirt that you would wear to school. Your spot must be in dress code, so no references to drugs, alcohol, smoking, inappropriate musicians/groups/lyrics. You can use your name, include your jersey number, instrument you play, and/or favorite hobbies. Names of your friends, boyfriend, or girlfriend will NOT be permitted. Your nickname may be used so long as it is appropriate.
Senior Amari Bostic said, “I paint my parking spots like the THE INCREDIBLES :)) AND I LOVED IT! my mom and I had a blast!” Several students really did love this opportunity to get to paint their parking spots. Senior Grace Enright said, ” The reason why I painted my parking spot was because I wanted it to be colorful and simple to do because I am not very artistic. Yes, I did enjoy painting my parking spot. Although someone ruined it the first time. So, I had to repaint it, but I like not having to think about which parking spot is mine in the morning.”
