At the end of last school year, Northland Theater announced the next fall musical: Annie. This classic musical will star Finley Donaho, an eight grader, as the spunky red-head Annie; Sami Hearn, the cast’s only senior as Miss Hannigan, the authoritarian antagonist of the plot; freshman Sebastian Tate as the wealthy Oliver Warbucks; freshman Matthew Forbes, as the swindling Rooser Hannigan; and freshmen Celeste Amezquita, as Roosters’s girlfriend and partner in crime Lily St. Regis.
All of these actresses and actors were in last season’s highly Tommy Tune-nominated Into the Woods (pictured) and Alice in Wonderland. However, something special about this year’s cast is that it is primarily led by freshman with the exception of Samantha Hearn, a senior. While a majority of the cast are underclassmen, they all have years of experience with Northland Theater and the end result will be fantastic. Another shift from last musical season is the influx of actors and actresses who are in sixth grade. This will bring an entire fresh mood to the cast and it will be interesting to see how the energy of the show will be.
Samantha Hearn, the actress of Miss Hannigan, says, “I am very thrilled to play the role of Miss Hannigan in the upcoming musical, but it is also bittersweet as this is my last musical at Northland. I want to thank Mrs. Jurick for being such a great director!”
Rehearsals for Annie will begin the week of August 26th, and the cast and crew are very thrilled to get started. The show dates are November 1, 2, and 3, and tickets will be on sale October.
