Football cleats = Many Choices
March 10, 2017
Football cleats are made to give football players traction into the grass so they can run faster and perform better. Well which football cleat should you buy? The type of football cleat you buy depends on what type of playing field you are playing on. Certain companies make certain cleats for the playing field. You might ask why the cleat has to be molded or detachable you will find out in this story.
If you’re playing on field turf it has been proven that you need to wear molded cleats because the bottom part of the cleat was made for shorter grass like turf. Every cleat brand has molded football bottom cleats. The higher the spike is the harder it is to get good traction and the more you’re slide or slip. Why chose molded over detachable on turf? Molded cleats have shorter spikes which equal faster and better performance. Detachable cleats can also be dangerous on turf.
If you’re playing on grass the recommended cleat is Detachable or some molded cleats. Detachable cleats means that you can unscrew the plates that give you traction. For long grass or regular grass detachable is definitely the best cleat because the spike part is longer than the molder ones so that means you can dig into the ground more. I asked multiple football players who play professional and at the high school level, and my friend Bear, stated that detachable cleats don’t work as good as molded cleats on turf because they don’t sink in the ground to give you faster movement. I asked my good friend, Johnny Manziel, which cleat he thought works best for cleats and he said he prefers detachable on grass because he feels faster. There are several reasons the cleats are better for different types of grass or turf.
