Replicas of Famous Architectures in China

Imagine living in Hangzhou, China, you don’t need to take a fight to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. As one of the most iconic images in the word, the Eiffel Tower has over 30 duplicates in the world. In Tianducheng (“Sky Capital City”) , a gated community near Hangzhou, a 354-foot high replica of the Eiffel Tower and 12 square miles of French architecture were built.
However, many people living in Tianducheng doesn’t really like the idea. “I think [it’s] a little strange,” Rachel Ni told ABC News,”I don’t like it here.” Today, the area still remains sparsely populated, local media call it a “ghost town”.Many apartments are empty, and few stores are even open for business. Ni thought it was quite embarrassing to have the fake tower :”No people will think it’s cool, no people. And some people, I think, want this removed. It’s fake. It’s not the true [one],” she said.
Tianducheng is not only the place China has architecture copied from different countries. Two hours away in the city of Suzhou, there is a clone of London’s famed Tower Bridge;outside of Beijing, there is a version of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Although these architectures doesn’t fit in China, the government built them for good purposes, and a lot of people we haven’t been to foreign countries get to see the world’s famous towers and bridges.Stephanie Yang said:” There architectures were not only the symbol of a country, they are also the heritage of history and culture,China needs them.”
