On Sunday night a 64 year old man opened fire at a concert in the Las Vegas strip killing 59 people and leaving 527 others in critical condition.

On Sunday night as people were enjoying themselves at a country musical festival, disaster broke out, leaving everyone running for their lives. The singer, Jason Aldean, who was on stage when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on hundreds of people, injuring and killing most was just as terrified as his audience. This tragic event led to so many questions being asked and so much support being given.

Sophomore Maddie Pallanez gives her insight on the topic at hand, “I heard about the shooting when I was looking at twitter and shortly got a notification from the Wall Street Journal article explaining what had happened. I was devistared to see that some people are so cruel and can’t even fathom how someone can be capable of such a gruesome and terrible thing.”

All of the way from Texas, there really isn’t much we can do but donate if we can and show love to the people who were affected, Maddie furthers by saying, “My prayers go out to all who were harmed by the shooting. It breaks my heart to see so many people within our country in so much pain and sorrow. It’s one thing to see these acts of terrorism on the news in foreign countries, but you never believe something like that could happen in your own country.”

What happened in Nevada was tragic and heartbreaking. This is a time for unity and for people to come together as a community, as a state and as a country to show each other the love and support everyone desperately needs.
