Yearly events goes sour – The Flu
January 25, 2018
Texas is currently suffering from one of the worst flu season in decades, and it has unfortunately, but defiantly spread to Northland. Obviously the doctors in Houston were expecting it, because the flu circle goes up and down and it is about the time of the year that the flu happens. What’s bad about this time is that the flu occurred earlier and spread faster than usual. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the ILI percentage – the number of patients doctors see with flu-like symptoms – has increase 13 percent in January, whereas last year it was below 6 percent.
Many people have gotten sick from the flu and others are somewhat scare of it. As sophomore Om Dighe said: “It’s bad, it’s decreasing our precious population, and yes I counted it.” And when being asked about if she would rather get the flu and skip school, or stay in school healthy and strong, Junior Lexi Zhang still picked to not get the flu, and said: “The flu sounds scary.”
However, there are many ways to prevent the flu, with washing your hand and covering your mouth when people around cough. Also, make sure your know the symptoms of the flu, including 1. stuffy or runny nose and/or a cough, 2. Mild sore throat 3. Headache and 4. Mild stomach ache!
