A Good Run For the NCS Swim Team

Joanne Tiglao, Writer

On Saturday January 19, the NCS Swim team had the TAPPS Regional Championship meet at the University of Houston. This was also the last meet of the season.

The NCS swim team, though small in numbers, are competitive and ready to see what the future has for them. The team at this meet consisted of Kenzie Hoffman, Austin Broussard, Alec Garza, Dante Littlejohn, and Paul Canovas. Their coach for this year’s season was Coach Kroeck.

I interviewed Austin Broussard, a junior, who went to the meet. Austin says that originally he loved swim. However for him now, it is something he does in his free time. Broussard says the hardest part about swim is showing up for all the practices.

Furthermore, he made some comments about how they did in their individual and group events. For individual events, they tried their best but unfortunately none of them had placed. However, their group relay event had most likely state qualified. He commented that he is unsure of how they placed though. The NCS swim team had shown potential and determination in their previous meets. Some of them had also placed.

As for the future of the NCS swim team, Austin is hopeful. He mentioned that he hopes people would care more about the smaller sports like swim at NCS. He also hopes that the swim team will grow in size next year.

Congratulations to the NCS swim team for successfully finishing out their season. Each member of the team showed determination and effort in each meet they participated in. The future for the NCS swim team is bright!
