This week is the Chinese lunar year week. Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, is commonly known as New Year, New Year, New Year’s Day, etc. It is also known orally as New Year and New Year’s Day. Spring Festival has a long history, evolved from the ancient era of the first year of praying for the yearly sacrifice. Everything is based on the sky, people are based on the ancestors, praying for the yearly sacrifice, respect for the sky and the ancestors, the beginning of the rewards. The origin of the Spring Festival contains a profound cultural connotation and carries a rich historical and cultural heritage in the inheritance and development. During the Spring Festival, various activities are held throughout the country to celebrate the New Year, with strong regional characteristics. These activities are mainly to remove the old and bring in the new, drive away from the evil and expel the disaster, worship the gods and ancestors, and pray for the New Year, in a rich and colorful form, cohesive with the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

In the early times of observing the elephant and granting the time, “Doushou Hui Yin” was the first day of the year. “This is the meaning of the beginning of all things and the rejuvenation of everything, and a new cycle is thus opened. In a traditional agrarian society, the first day of spring is of great significance and has given rise to a large number of festive cultures related to it. Although the dates of the first day of the year have varied throughout history using different calendars, the framework of the festival and many of its folk customs have been inherited. In modern times, Chinese New Year is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, but it is generally not over until at least the 15th day of the first month. Spring Festival is a major folk festival that combines worship of gods and ancestors, prayers for blessings and protection from evil spirits, family and friends reunions, celebrations and entertainment, and food.

The Chinese New Year is the first of all festivals, and it is the grandest traditional festival of the Chinese people. Influenced by Chinese culture, some countries and regions around the world also have the custom of celebrating Chinese New Year. According to incomplete statistics, nearly 20 countries and regions have designated the Chinese Spring Festival as a legal holiday for the whole or some cities under their jurisdiction. Spring Festival is one of the four traditional Chinese holidays, along with the Qingming Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
