On October 30th, the Northland Cross Country team competed in state. After winning the district championship comftortably, the cougar boys felt very confident coming into state. On the other side, the cougar girls were district runner-ups, and they felt very confident as well. They State Meet took place in Waco, Texas. The runners were competing in horrible conditions, as there was wind, rain, and it was around 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The year before was a lot warmer, around 80 to 90 degrees. The difference is like two different seasons.
The Cougars did very well in their runs. They boys doing extremely well, getting 3rd in state. Gerson Pineda and Grant Rodges getting All-State Accolades as the both finished in the top 10. The runners said the race was very challenging due to the conditions. This will be a season to be remembered for both teams. Both girls and boys have very young teams, and have a lot of potential for the future. It was a good send off for all the seniors, Cierra Raven, Samantha Miller, and Collin Scamp-Gross.
