Revie of ”The Big Short”

Corbin Fontana, Writer/ Editor

In Adam McKay’s new film, The Big Short, he brings to light the financial crisis of 2008 in a way millennials are more able to understand. He does this by introducing people in pop culture to explain terms that are difficult to explain, like Collateralize Debt Obligations.

I personally loved this film and everything about it. The way it takes on the view of the stockholder and people who are in the business gives the viewer a different take than if it was focused on the homeowner. However, we still feel somewhat sympathetic to these characters (even though they made millions of dollars after the drop of the stock market).

The Big Short is definitely a for sure contender for ‘Best Picture’ at this year’s Oscars. It is also nominated for Best Directing, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing.
In the end I completely recommend this film to anyone who is focused in the stock market, want to know more about why your family went through a tough time in the late 2000s, or just enjoy good acting and writing.  8.8/10
