Boys Soccer Beats The Village

Corbin Fontana, Writer/ Editor

This last Thursday, your Northland Christian Cougars took on The Village, a team that had not lost a game in two years, a team that had only one goal scored on them this year. This team was defeated by the Northland boys varsity soccer team.

There was quite a bit of buzz surrounding this game, as the cougars barley lost the last match up against The Village. There even seemed to be a bigger turn out to the game, even if it was only 20 people, this fired up the cougars. They traveled down to The Village’s home turf with a certain focus surrounded around not only winning the game, but ending the regular season on a high note.

As they began to warm up, there was a sense of a calm confidence throughout the team. As the game started, the Cougars immediately  gained control of them game. With great team chemistry, and great hustle from everyone, it was not long until the first goal was scored by Sam Petro, a beautiful shot right past the right side of the keeper. This goal not only fired the players up, but also the fans. This resulted in another goal, scored by Bruce Beeson. The cougars managed to defend well for the rest of the game, ending with a 2-0 victory over the giants in the division. No doubt this was a great game to end the regular season on.

With the regular season over, its now time to move into playoffs, just another reason to support the sports.
