Every kid all over the world, dreads Monday’s. Not only Mondays’s but Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s. They feel as tired as a family of sloths each day. Moral of the story is, school weeks can be tiring. Student’s everywhere can agree that the concept of waking up every day at 6am and spending 8 more hours of your day in a place where you’re forced to learn about mitochondria, is not a fun one. Which is why everyone looks forward to the weekend! The two days of the week where sleeping in, is completely acceptable. Every single person i’ve talked to mentions that the main thing they do on Saturday’s is sleeping in. Many of them have different reasons to why they sleep in. Obviously, because of school, but there are way more specific and interesting reasons they do it.

According to a freshman from Northland, when asked if she sleeps in she replied, “Of course,” and when asked why she sleeps in she said, “I just feel exhausted of school.” This only proves that school is bringing so much stress and exhaustion to students.

When asking a teacher if they sleep in she replied, “I mean, I try to!” and when asked why she replied, “Usually on a school day, I wake up at 5…… I’m pretty tired by the weedepression-cycle-sleep-pretendkend.” So, we can see that not only students sleep in, but so do teachers!
It’s a proven fact, that people sleep more in their teenage years than they will in their whole lives. The average growing age is 13 years old to 18 years old, the most important years of your life when you’re in high school! In order for peoples brains to function they need a specific about of sleep a day. Usually, student’s do not get that during the week. Which is why, sleeping in on Saturday’s is so crucial to student’s.

Why do student’s sleep in on Saturday’s? That’s a simple question, because of school! Kids are tired by the end of week, and they only thing they crave is rest and relaxation, sleep. They don’t sleep in because they’re lazy or have no motivation to get out of bed, they do it because they’re physically and mentally drained.
