Mr.Wietstruck: Cross Country Coach has a Green Thumb

Wendy Jiang

Mr.Wietstruck teaches social study and coaches the Cross Country team at Northland, this year he teaches me World Geography.

Teaching many classes could be busy, but also enjoyable, Mr.Wietstruck think it would be board if he only taught one class. Although it takes a ton of work, he still enjoys the variety of teaching World Geography, AP U.S. Government, Government, AP Macroeconomics and Economics.  It keeps him on his toes.  In our spare time we would like to do our favorite things. Since teaching many classes,Mr.Wietstruck doesn’t have a lot of spare time, for most of the time he drives his three kids to all of their activities and watches them. When he do have “me” time, he likes to garden and work in his yard.  He thinks he might have a green thumb.

Cross Country needs not only sill but also endurance, just as much about mental endurance as it is about physical endurance. Coaching the Cross Country team needs method and experience,it is about motivation and helping each runner realize their potential.Students are up early in the morning and have to push themselves to run faster even when their body wants to stop.

Traveling is very amusing, we could experience local culture, Mr.Wietstruck loves to travel and have been lucky enough to spend time in Europe, Singapore, China, Dubai and all over the U.S.A.He has family in Santa Fe, NM and really enjoys his time exploring Native American ruins there.
