Some of you may not even know that there’s a cross country team at our Northland Campus, but there is. As much as it’s forgotten, the team environment is fun and well worth it. Many people like to complain how early practice is in the morning, which is true, but at the end of practice, you feel in shape and also feel like you accomplished something. A few teammates were willing to put their input after I asked them a few questions. Thankfully, Natalie and Britney, both juniors at Northland, gave responses.

Question 1: What do you like the most about cross country?

Answer:

Natalie: I love the feeling you get after running. It’s a distinct feeling of accomplishment and pride that you just did something really awesome. I also love the community and all of my teammates.

Britney: Running is not the most fun thing. The most fun part of cross country is the team and the feeling. What does that mean? Well, the team is literally some of my favorite people in the entire world: our girl’s team gets along so well & running with them is an experience like never before because you know that they’re encouraging you as teammates. Secondly, even though the feeling of running is literally so killer at the moment, you feel so alive afterward.

Questions 2: Why did you join cross country?

Answer:

Natalie: I joined cross country because it is a great way to start my morning and a fun but odd way to bond with my friends 🙂

Britney: I joined cross country to say I did cross country in high school, to run away from my problems, try to like running, strengthen my mind game, and overall run with some of my best friends bright and early.

Question 3: Anything else you’d like to add about cross country like fun times or memories ect.

Answer:

Natalie: My favorite memories that come from Cross Country are before and after the meets. The team warms up together and then we eat together haha

Britney:  Even though meets are stressful, we love eating out after meets. When the coaches tell us to eat healthy though HAHA it’s actually so funny. I love my team, and I love the bonding.

Overall, the Cross Country team is pretty close and has developed a lot over the years. Although there’s the struggle of waking up SUPER early and hard workouts, at times, all of it is well worth it.
