Homecoming Music

Joanne Tiglao, Writer

As Northland’s 2018 Homecoming dance approaches, the music involved is important. It sets the atmosphere of the dance. However, there are guidelines to what can and and cannot be played during the dance.

Britney Trieu and Jason Horton are in charge of the music for homecoming and are currently compiling a list. Though there are many songs that want to be played, not all will be allowed. The guidelines are as following: appropriate messages and no profanity, even if it is the clean version of the song. Though these rules are set in place, there are still many good songs to choose from.

As I interviewed Britney Trieu, who is in charge, she says, “The DJ is usually at Christian schools, so he knows all the explicit songs to avoid. Mr. Wietstruck also hopes there are some line dances involved.” I also asked Britney her recommendations and she said, “Personal by HRVY OF COURSE & throwback is good. Old Friends by Ben Rector as a tribute to the seniors is what I want!”

I also sent out a poll to the high school students and recieved quite a lot of song recommendations.
