Students hard at work

Students at NCS work very hard for their academics. Academics is one of the most important things at NCS and their students. There are many courses at Northland that prepare the students for college-level courses and the students can even get credit for college courses.

Also, the extracurricular at Northland is very extensive. There is Theatre, Art, Robotics, and several boys and girls sports. These often interfere with sports practices and Fine arts events. Students sometimes have to choose between sleep and academics.

I asked students how many hours of homework do they do a night. Senior, Justin Gilliland, said “I spend about 3 hours at football practice a day and then about 2 hours a day on homework”. Senior, Jackson Winder, a debater at NCS, says “I spend about an hour of homework each day and 2-3 hours a day on extracurriculars”. Northland has many tough extracurriculars that take up many students time.

Between academics and extracurriculars, students spend about 30 hours a week outside of school.
