Baseball season is upon us, and that means tournaments and days off from school. The Northland Christian Cougars baseball team is coming off of a state championship, and are looking to have success again in the 2020 season. Yesterday the Cougars started their play in the Father Wilson Tournament. This is non-district play, but the Cougs are still looking to do good.

Yesterday the Northland Christian Cougars went 1-1 on the day in the Father Wilson Tournament. The Cougars defeated the West Houston Thunder 4-2 in a 7 inning complete game by Chance Weddington. Clutch hits by Marshall Ingram and Peyton Fennelly helped the Cougs on offense as well. Injured senior Cameron Bailes said, “I think Chance did great on the mound and the defense made plays behind him”. In the second game it was obvious that the Cougars were fatigued from the first game. The offense dragged and the Lions from Pope John hit the ball well. Northland is looking to continue the success from the first game into the rest of the week.

The Cougars are going to enter district play in a few weeks, and are looking to get on track in the rest of non-district. Senior leaders like Marshall Ingram and Peyton Fennelly need to keep the team swinging it and making plays on defense. If they do that then the Cougars could be on a good path for district.
