James Harden is the best player in the NBA as of right now and he deserves the MVP

Cameron Bailes, Writer

James Harden, also known as, “The Beard” has had an amazing season so far and we are over half way through with the season. James Harden and the Rockets have a record of 39-25 and are currently 4th in the playoff race in the Western Conference. James Harden was awarded with the MVP last season and I believe he should be awarded with it again this year.

James Harden has been in the NBA for 10 years and has played 7 seasons with the Houston Rockets, and played 3 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. James Harden has had an outstanding past 3 seasons with the Rockets, and has led them to the playoffs every year since he got there. Last year, James Harden averaged 30.4 points per game while playing 35 minutes every game. This year is different, with the absence of Chris Paul for multiple games, James Harden had to carry the team and in that he was averaging over 35 points per game. On the season James Harden is averaging 36.7 points per game while playing 37 minutes every game. According to Memphis Grizzlies Coach, J.B Bickerstaff said, “There’s so much space, so you have to give them credit and give him credit just for the talent he is and the impact he has on the game,”. James Harden is even getting praise from other coaches because of how good of the season he is having.

James Harden is definitely a sure candidate for this years MVP, by the way he is putting up numbers and carrying his team. No matter what, I think that James Harden definitely deserves it by his play and not by popularity because he is one of the best players in the league right now and it will probably stay like that for a couple more years.
