Northland Christian boys soccer played at the Northland Christian Invitational Tournament earlier this December. They showed up with less players than anticipated, players are missing for numerous reasons. Only having 11 or players max during each game. The NCS boys had 4 tough games up ahead, all of them within 2 days.

On the first day, the boys started with a game vs Logos Prep. It was a tough and intense game, and the game ended in 0-0 and went to PKs. The Goalkeeper, Garrett Hardwick, saved a penalty to give Northland their first win in the tournament. The boys were tired, but they had another game later in the evening vs HCYA. This game looked to be an even tougher game, but the boys were ready. They played a very hard game vs HCYA, but they ended up losing 2-0 in the end. It was a great fight versus a very physical team. Coach Ortega left this game very proud of his players for giving their all.

On day two, the games seemed more favorable to Northland. They started with a game at noon vs Bay Area. Andres Gonzalez scored his 2nd goal of the season in this game, and some great organized defense had Northland going in this game. Northland played a great game and won 1-0. Even though they had won, some of the players felt like they could get more goals out of it. Northland now put themselves in a position to get top 2 in the tournament if they win their next game. NCS were fatigued heading into their next game vs Providence. Coach Ortega had moved players around different positions to combat this, and players took advantage of it. Logan Edmonds and Enobong were able to score and the both of them got their first Varsity goal for Northland Christian. The game ended 2-0 and NCS Boys got 2nd in the Tournament!
The boys played extremely hard every single game despite only having 11 or 12 players each game. They found goals towards the end of the tournament, and played stellar defense throughout the whole tournament. This was an inspiring performance and a great way to show the school what they’re about.
