As the 2013 film, The Croods, was a popular movie that was released during its time. After seven long years, the new movie, The Croods: A New Age, was released just recently.

While the new movie was released during Thanksgiving break, November 25, 2020, apparently it won the holiday box office weekend. According to World News Era, “The Croods: A New Age easily won the holiday box office weekend after taking in $9.7 million in three days. For the 5-day totals, the movie earned $14.2 million and then $35 million globally. This marks the highest debut since the public health crisis started and theaters reopened their doors. Warner Bros. was only able to take in $9.35 million with Christopher Nolan’s latest movie Tenet, and that was the 3-day Labor Day weekend. Though the numbers for this weekend are pretty dismal, they are some of the best that we’ve seen in 2020.”

And since the movie has been released, critics were quick to say their opinions.

Reviewer Bob Hoose, for Plugged in states how the new movie started out like the 2013 film. The family togetherness and growth that was shown, “But through almost pure happenstance, The Croods: A New Age has now become a pic that reflects our current crazy world.”

In the original film, DreamWorks explains the film as ,”…an eccentric family of cavemen, who survive the harsh terrain by living accordingly to a strict set of rules. But when their home is destroyed in the wake of an impending disaster known as “The End”, they are forced to leave their home of shelter and security, and into the wilderness of the unknown to find a new home.”

According to Kofi Outlaw, reviewer for ScreenRant.com, states, “The Croods is yet another successful film for Dreamworks, managing to land somewhere between their best works and their lackluster efforts.”

This just comes to show how amazing the film, The Croods,is. Though I haven’t watched the new movie yet, which is out in theaters, and I can’t wait to lay my eyes on the film that everyone is going crazy about.
