Last Thursday, September 5, high school students headed over to the elementary campus to read picture books to Mrs. Tosh’s Pre-K class. This is a continued tradition from prior years and is an exciting opportunity for high school students with a free study hall period on Thursdays to meet with elementary students and provide a small break during the hectic day. The operation is always headed by the Elementary Chair of STUCO (Student Council), and this year, STUCO’s Elementary Chair is Samantha Hearn, a senior. She says, “Reading books to the elementary students is a great way to bridge the gap between the two campuses which rarely interact. I am proud to lead the reading.”
Anderson Hendrix, a senior student who also has visited the elementary to read, says, “I enjoy getting to see new people on campus.” If anyone has a free second or third period on Thursdays and would like to help and read to the Pre-K classes, they can visit Coach Lemm in the front office and she will set them up with books from the elementary library and a time slot to go and visit.
