Soccer will soon be back, and that means players and coaches are starting to prepare for the new season.
The NCS Soccer Team has lost a lot of players this year. They have lost 11 players this year, and only have 7 returning Varsity players from the year before. That also means JV, and upcoming Freshmen players will be given a chance to show their skills. There is also so glaring issues in defense and in squad depth. As most of the players we lost were defenders, and we need good backups who can do a job all around the field. But this is also still a young team with most of the team being sophomores.
It could be a very similar season to last season. As this team could definitely win district but going deep and winning state could will be a very difficult feat. The district Northland is in, is not necessarily the strongest, as the Winner last year, Cypress Christian has moved up a division. So it is very open for anybody to win the District, but it is looking likely for Northland to win it this year. In playoffs, it could look a little different, as if Northland win their district, they get a first round bye, but they will still have a lot of competition on their side of the bracket. As St. Thomas, and British seem to be the two teams who are always in the conversation for state.
This year will be a very good developing year once again, as this team is young. They can definitely win district if all their players are there. But it will be a difficult run at state.
