Senioritis

Senioritis

Corbin Fontana, Writer/ Editor

What can define a seniors final year more than one word? Seinoritis. Urban dictionary decides to define it as “A crippling disease that strikes high school seniors”. Symptoms include: laziness, the complete disregard of dress code, and the unwilling desire to do nothing but watch Netflix. As more and more get accepted into college, wee see the terrifying disease spread throughout the whole senior class.Matt Morgan on Phone

As teachers attempt to try to shove the seniors into a schedule after Christmas break, the attempts seem tireless, and unresponsive.  Being in the first period class of Mr. Wietstruck, I couldn’t think of anyone better to interview about this subject, he ”Likes to time his classes based off of when senioritis hits. He thinks very highly of any class that can make it to spring break. He also believes that changing the way the course is taught is a great way to deal with senioritis, by separating up parts of an assignment into little chunks rather than assigning to all at one time.”

Students them selves even know that this disease continues to creep into their system, but it seems like it even takes over their spirits, quickly making the individual fall into a spiral of tardy’s and absences. Knowing this has spread among even the campus of Northland Christian, I decided going out and doing a little interviewing would be the best way to truly grasp the effects of this disease. Jackson Fordyce, an aspiring actor truly is in belief that senioritis ”has not effected him yet”. A very bold and courageous comment made by a senior. On the other hand, a promising student athlete, Noah Fouts exclaimed proudly that senioritis had first started effecting him at the ”beginning of the first semester”.

With many things considered, luckily this disease is not fatal and most who contract it only end up with minor dips in their G.P.A. Personally for me, senioritis has hit me at full force, the thought of homework or tucking in my shirt has seemed like some of the most difficult tasks presented before me. Evan writing this paper has taken me five days, proof of the dreading weight called senioritis.
